Today I sit here, in the partial darkness, moisture in the air and snow threatening to fall. The sun will not be showing its bright warm face today. We are fortunate to see the light that filters through the thick, fluffy clouds but that’s all we are afforded.

Motivation is hard to come by on a day like this. I feel like I am powered by the sun. As the sun rays pulsate through the atmosphere and make contact with my skin, I absorb that solar energy and feel warm and whole. I wish I could feel that warmth right now. Instead I am trapped within the recycled warmth generated from the boilers of the aging and decaying building I find myself in. Taking Vitamin D supplements to restore my energy artificially.

The mask on my face, looped from ear to ear covers my cheeks, nose, mouth and chin. Just another layer, filtering the artificial air inside and hopefully keeping any airborne diseases from being inhaled. Annoying, yes but with a virus ravaging the globe, a necessary evil for survival. Luckily I have respite when outside. Each morning, I am fortunate to breathe in crisp mountain air, with a hint of pine. Unfiltered, raw and calming.
